An Exclusive Guide to Picking a Profitable Niche Market

Last week I informed you of Pat Flynn’s Niche Site Duel 2.0 and how I have decided to take up the challenge. I also mentioned that as much as possible I would be updating you with the details as we go on with the challenge.

I’m pleased to inform you that after working for some hours a few days ago; I was able to pick a niche market to target for the challenge. And so, today I want to give you a detailed guide on how to pick a profitable niche market.

You must understand that this is the most important aspect of building a niche site because picking on the wrong niche can result on your wasting precious time, resources and effort.

But before going into choosing a niche market I want to briefly answer the question,

What Really Are Niche Sites?

I think we need to understand this right from the beginning because I have seen a whole lot of confusion when people talk about building niche sites. For example, among bloggers I discovered that many only see this as choosing a subject for their blogs. You may have heard bloggers telling you to target a niche if you want to succeed as a blogger!

Of course, this is good advice and may truly sound like what we are talking about here. But inherently, it is quite different from building niche sites.

Here are some differences:

1.    In niche blogging, you are expected to be an expert in your target niche. Because of the personal nature of blogs anything outside of being an expert and personal will hinder your success.

But this is not so with niche sites. In fact, I can authoritatively say, even if you don’t know anything about a particular niche you can still make a success of your niche site if you know what to do! Besides, you can run the site with a “pen name”!

2.    In niche blogging you are expected to continuously devote time and effort to updating the blog. This involves constantly writing new content, replying to comments, visiting other blogs to post comments, etc.

Unfortunately, doing all that takes away your ability of building multiple niche sites since you have limited time at your disposal. Can you imagine running 3 or 5 blogs at the same time? How about 10 or even 20?

Can you imagine how overwhelming that can be?

Remember, niche sites are about building multiple blogs that will help you achieve your dream of multiple streams of online income!

Indeed, there are other differences but these two are really the biggest ones. Later on we’ll touch on some other differences but for now let’s consider…

How to Pick a Profitable Niche

Riches In Niches Guide to Choosing a Target Niche! For this, I‘ll quickly give you my simple guide for choosing a profitable niche. Note that this is not about keyword research but “market research.” Of course, you may need to resort to your keyword tools to know what people are looking for but your concern right now is not what keywords you will target. That will come later.

So, what should determine your target niche? For me, these are the determinants:

1) Are there people who are passionate about this niche? Do they have a desperate problem they want solved? Are there enough “motivated buyers?”

2) Is the niche popular? Is the market big enough, but not so big as to have too much competition when you’re just starting out?

3) Is it profitable? Do the people in this niche spend money?

4) What products are being successfully sold right now to this niche? Can you get these products to sell as an affiliate or can you sell a similar product of your own? If you decide to sell your own product, can you improve on it and give them something they want that other products of their kind are currently lacking?

5) What are these existing products in your target niche being sold for? Can you make a good commission selling them as an affiliate? Or could you be profitable selling a similarly priced item?

6) Do you have an interest or passion for this niche? Do you have the experience to create the right content for your niche blog?  If you don’t, do you think you can develop the passion or interest? Or is there some good proven way you can get the content created for you?

You must take note of these 6 points because they will determine how much success you’ll get from your niche site. Picking the wrong niche will result in very unpleasant results!

Let me quickly inform you that Pat Flynn did a post where he gave his own criteria for choosing a niche market. Much of it is really not different from what I have here now but there is a particular criterion he mentioned which I want to note here. He called it “The Grandma Test!”

This is what Pat said about this test:

“This is an easy, but important test – at least to me.

Once I find a keyword with decent search volume and relatively low competition, I’ll ask myself the following question:

If I created a website in this niche and it became incredibly successful, would I be comfortable sharing my success with my grandma?

If the answer is no, then I may have to think twice about getting into this particular niche.”

I think that is worth noting because as much as you want to make money online, going over board and throwing your values away is not the right thing to do. I hope the message there is clear enough!

So, let’s move on…

Niche Market Selection Take Away:

Picking a profitable niche market is important if you want to make money with niche sites. The easiest way to do this is to look for a niche with a group of “extremely motivated buyers”. Some of the criteria you must consider are, is the niche large, popular and if there is a desperate need that calls for immediate attention. You must make sure that there’s a very strong motivation to take care of a problem.

How To Make Some Extra Money In Niche Markets This Christmas Season!

The Christmas season is here again. And as expected every savvy entrepreneur is up and about to make a gain of the situation. If you’re a follower of the Web Income Journal you’d have noticed that I’ve not been regular with updates on this blog these past couple of weeks. The simple reason is, I’ve been busy setting up a few automated niche blogs to promote Christmas specific products.

Yes, automated niche blogs is one system of making money online that I love so much. I’ve even talked about these in a few posts in the past. One reason why I love them is for the simple reason that though you can make money running just one blog but counting on that one blog to become one of the biggest in your target niche is a big gamble. For you to build a single large blog that you can live off, you’ll need to have thousands and thousands of visitors. And you can agree that this is one thing that is becoming really difficult lately.

Besides, remember that wise saying, “don’t put all your eggs in one basket?” Niche specific blogs are my own way of diversifying my “investment portfolio” online! Instead of putting all of my efforts to building a super blog in this make money online niche (I’m sure you already know how difficult that is anyway), I love putting some of my effort into building automated niche blogs.

This is something I touch extensively in my free email tutorial. I encourage you to sign up now to get a detailed training on the simple system I’ve been using. In this post I’ll simply give you a basic guide on how you can use niche blogs to make some extra money this Christmas season. The idea is to help you get a slice of the Christmas cake since the Christmas rush is on!

A Basic Guide to Setting Up An Automated Niche Blog

1. Decide On Your Target Niche:

The best way to do this at the moment is to look at the market and pick out the products that are hot in the market. Definitely since we are talking about the Christmas season, you should be looking towards gift items, Christmas decorations etc. Some of the tools I use in researching hot selling products right now are:

Google Products Search – http://www.google.com/products

Amazon Best Sellers – http://www.amazon.com

2. Join The Right Affiliate Programs:

Of course you want to make some money with your niche blog, right? Ok just asking 🙂 If you’ve done your research using the above tools getting an affiliate program will not be a problems. However, you can also do a specialized search on google.com in order to find some decent affiliate products for your niche blogs. Personally I use google adsense in conjunction with amazon products for most of my niche blogs.

3. Set Up Your Niche Blog Using Fantatisco:

If your webhost does not support fantatisco then you’ll need to download and install wordpress manually. But I know that most webhost comes with this feature and by simply using it, you can set up your niche blog in less than 10 minutes!

Once your niche blog is set up you can customize the blog very quickly with a theme.  There are thousands of free themes you may want to download and use.  The next thing you need to customize your niche blog is to change the permalink structure. I’m sure as a blogger you know the importance of this.  I usually use /%postname%/.

4. Install The Right Plugins:

I divide these into two – the compulsory ones and the optional ones. The compulsory ones include Unique Article Wizard pluginWP VideoTube plugin and The XML Sitemap Generator plugin. The first two form the most important part of this system. They will supply you with the needed content for your niche blog. Once set up, the unique article writer will automatically post professionally written articles to your niche blog depending on the time scheduled by you. The video plugin on the other hand automatically post youtube videos based on your keywords.

The optional plugins include the SEO title tag plugin, the sociable plugin, and the WP related post plugin. Besides these ones, there are the ones I refer to as your affiliate companions. These plugins helps you make money with your content. The ones I use here are Wel!Amazon plugin and the Adsense Optimizer plugin.

5. Create And Assign A Static Home Page:

I simply love using a static home page for my niche blogs. The idea is to write a highly search engine optimized product review and set it as the home page. If you’ve done your keyword research very well you can easily get your niche blog home page up on the search engines without much effort. The beauty of this is that though your niche blog will continue to attract the search engines as your articles are being published, any visitor who arrives on your niche home page will be presented with your review article with your affiliate links! This ability to asign a static home page to your niche blog is another of the reasons why I prefer wordpress blogs for my niche sites.

The above is the basic guide I use for my niche blogs. Let my quickly say you may decide to buy a domain name based on your target niche. But for most of the niche blogs I set up this period, I simply used an existing domain name. What I did was to create subdirectories on some of my existing blogs and install the niche blogs. One good thing about this is that instead of beginning with a new domain on the search engines, you can take advantage of the old domain name rankings.

So, there you have it. I hope this will be of any help as you step out to get your own slice of the christmas bumper sales this season. Once again I encourage you to sign up for the detailed training on how to set up an automated niche blog by clicking here.

Is Autoblogging Gradually Becoming The Next Phase of Making Money Blogging?

I don’t know if you’ve noticed it lately. Gradually but steadily it’s taking momentum. It’s becoming the buzz word among bloggers right now. At first, people were against it as, in their reasoning it adds no real value to the conversation since blogging is about conversation. But now every one is turning to it!

Wondering what this is?

Ok, I’m talking about… Autoblogging!

Of course autoblogging is not new among bloggers. But the wave at which it is becoming the in-thing is worth mentioning. The acceptance it has garnered amongst bloggers lately is unprecedented.

Revelations from many top bloggers shows that not a few of them have been involved with setting up automatic blogs at one time or the other. One such revelation has just come from no other person but Jason Potash of www.johnchow.com. In a free report he released recently in partnership with Jason Katzenback, he revealed:

“My business partner, Jason Katzenback and I, started tinkering with autoblogging way back in 2005. Like many internet marketers, we became very intrigued with the blog vending machine concept of setting up 50, 100 or 200 automatic money-makers working for us 24/7.”

Hmm, since 2005? So making money blogging using autoblogs is not something of today. However, what really caught my attention in the report is this statement,

“We have a private network of well over 10,000 autoblogs in dozens of different niche markets!”

Did I hear you say Hmm..?

Then you’re as surprised as I was.. Ten thousand auto blogs in different niche markets!

Frankly, I was not too amazed with all these revelations because I knew many of them were doing things like this while they are presenting us with income reports supposedly coming from their everyday blogs!

But the truth is, though I was not surprised about the fact that they were building niche blogs in different niche markets, (of course, I’ve been doing this too) I never imagined these pro-bloggers getting involved with autoblogging! I never really thought of that considering the reaction of other bloggers whenever the subject of autoblogging was mentioned.

You see, in a guest post I did sometime ago at FamousBloggers.net titled: How To Easily Build Multiple Streams Of Income Using WordPress,” I revealed some strategies for creating niche blogs as multiple income streams. Building static niche blogs using wordpress and setting up automatic wordpress blogs were some of the methods I touched on in that post. But of all these the idea of automatic blogs drew the highest of negetive comments as many were against it.

Now at the time I wrote that post I had never tried anything autoblogging. But some time after doing that post I decided to experiment with the idea! And must say I’ve discovered a lot about that topic. Now there are actually different types of autoblogs. Some are simply worthless as they add no real value to the blogosphere. But there are other ways of setting up autoblogs that are not just RSS aggregators. You can actually have good content posted on your autoblog that Google loves. In fact two of such autoblogs which I set up recently are doing well in the search engines.

So you see that when many amateur bloggers are ranting against autoblogging and continue to slave it over their regular blogs the probloggers are doing something underground about it!

Jason’s revelations speaks volume of what others are doing. And please note that Jason released that free report as a preparation for a product about autoblogging they will be launching in a few days. Yes, another autoblogging product is hitting the market 🙂

Let’s get this straight…

With the revelations from people like Jason and of course with other autobloging products in the market don’t you think many bloggers would now be considering this “new” way of blogging? I’m sure you already know the answer! In fact many of those who were speaking against it will now have a rethink.

Now I don’t know about you but like I said I’ve been testing the ground about autoblogging for some time now. This is because I’ve discovered they are a good way of easily setting up niche blogs. Of course you may have seen what many people are putting together as autoblogs, but the truth is if you know what to do you can build very profitable niche blogs using autoblogging. This is part of the system that I present in my 7-Part email tutorial:  “How To Easily Create Multiple Streams of Passive Income Online!” You’ll do yourself  a whole lot of good if you’ll signup for it right now!

I must say most of these happenings are not taking me by surprise having taking much time to consider them a long time ago. I know very soon, with many of these products being released into the market, everyone will be rushing into autoblogging as we always see among internet marketers. And very soon that segment will be saturated leaving the late comers to look for the next availabe thing.

I must say the free report titled: “The top 13 Autoblogging Blunders” is something you should also read if you want really want to understand the direction the “make money blogging” current is flowing. Download a free copy by clicking here.
I don’t know if you’ve considered autoblogging at some time in your blogging career. If you have, then now is the time to really get to know what is involved, how it works and of course the right way to go about it. Don’t wait until the market is saturated. Don’t even wait for some magic key that will give you the secret. Niche blogging and autoblogging have one basic idea and that is, to build multiple streams of passive income so that you can achieve more while working less.

As much as I love automation I also love to know what I’m doing. That is why knowing the basics is very important to me. And this is what I laid out in my free tutorial, “How To Easily Create Multiple Streams of Passive Income Online!” If you think this one may be too basic for you then don’t waste another time, go and download Jason’s free report right away.

Ok, so I may tried to convince you that autoblogging is taking the center-stage. But I know you have own opinion. So let’s have you say on this. Have you been autoblogging or you against it? Let’s hear from you.
