Besides, many online business models seems to over complicate things so much that trying to make them work only result in creating more confusion and overwhelm.

The result is that it’s much more easier for many to give up than see their dreams through!

In this blog post I want to share with you a truly SIMPLE online business model that will save you the heartache and confusion.

Now, this business model is easily neglected by many because of its simplicity. Many others only see it as part of their business strategy and tactic. The fact however is…

…it’s one of the most POWERFUL online business models, ever!

So, what’s this online business model…?

Email Marketing!

How to Harness the Simple Power of Email Marketing to Profit Online

After years of doing business online and having tried nearly every business model out there, I can categorically say email marketing is the simplest but most powerful online business model you can think of!

As you may have heard it a number of times already, the money is in the list. The problem however is that as digital marketers we’re always looking for some advantage to make more money but in the process we overlook what’s right in front of us!

So…,

What’s Email Marketing and How Does It Work?

Wikipedia.com defines email marketing as,

“The act of sending a commercial message, typically to a group of people, using email. In its broadest sense, every email sent to a potential or current customer could be considered email marketing. It usually involves using email to send advertisements, request business, or solicit sales or donations, and is meant to build loyalty, trust, or brand awareness.”

Email marketing is aimed at building a list of prospects (also known as leads) who are interested in buying your products or services. First, you will need to connect with your target audience by offering them high quality information in exchange for their subscription.

You can collect leads using a combination of squeeze pages and opt-in forms. These forms are generated by your autoresponder provider and are embedded into the HTML code of your squeeze page template.

Each time a visitor to your squeeze page enters in their name and email address and confirms their action, they are added to your mailing list database, and become an active subscriber.

With the subscriber added to your database, your autoresponder kicks in and emails your prospect a welcome email that you’ve already set up. This is sent out automatically within minutes of their subscription.

From this point on your autoresponder continues to email the subscriber on pre-set dates. The purpose is to develop a relationship with them so you can convert them from subscribers to active customers who are ready to do business with you over and over again.

Basically, your list building funnel should consist of three major parts:

1: Squeeze Page With Opt-In Form
2: Compelling High Quality Offer or Incentive
3: Follow Up Emails And Broadcasts

Making Email Marketing Work for You

How to Make Email Marketing Work for You

If you’ve been wondering why email marketing has not worked for you in the past then you need to understand that the key phrase in the email marketing definition above is, “commercial message“.  The secret is in sending a blend of promotional based emails and relevant and useful content.

For example, if you create 4 emails that are scheduled to be delivered accordingly, you could set them up as follows:

1st Email: This should be set to instantly go out to your subscribers thanking them for subscribing to your list. If you have promised a free download or whatever, this email should also contain the download link.

2nd Email: This can be scheduled to be sent on the third day (whatever day you choose) after your subscriber has confirmed their request, and includes an email offering free content, additional articles or another report.

3rd Email: This may be sent out on the 7th day of the sequence, promotional based, advertising a related product.

4th Email: This may be scheduled to go out a day or two after the last one. It may include some content and maybe a reminder about the product you promoted in the last email.

The balance that you use, when mixing up free content with promotional based material is entirely up to you, however the more value you give to your list, the easier and faster it will be to develop a relationship with them.

While many advocate an aggressive approach others would rather tread carefully, initially focusing on building a relationship with your list, and then doubling that up with promotional offers, or recommendations to affiliate products.

But whatever route you want to take it is essential that you ‘condition’ your list so that they grow accustomed to receiving promotional based emails from you on a regular basis. It they only see your list as a means of getting “FREE” information you might see a lot of unsubscriptions whenever you try to promote to them.

It’s up to you to keep a pulse on your subscriber base, and determine what works best, how frequently you contact them, and whether they respond well to the products you are promoting. But, just don’t be afraid to experiment and test out new ideas and innovative ways to consistently grow and maintain your subscriber base.

That being said, let’s now dig deeper on building a profitable mailing list.

The Tools You Need For Email Marketing

To build a profitable mailing list you’ll need some specific tools. These include:

A Professional Autoresponder Account

With autoresponder services like www.GetResponse.com and www.Aweber.com, you are able to set up an unlimited number of mailing lists, each one featuring a customized code that serves as your opt-in box.

This is important as it helps you to tailor your emails to directly communicate with targeted groups of subscribers who are interested in specific information or topics.

Squeeze (Landing) Page

A squeeze page houses your opt-in form and provides a place for your contacts to find you, evaluate what you are offering and make the decision to become an active subscriber of your list.

A squeeze page is very similar to a salespage in terms of its primary function, which is, to pull in customers and motivate them to take action, in this case, subscribe to your list.

That call of action is essential in creating high performance squeeze pages. You need to clearly direct visitors to enter in their name and email address as well as instruct them to confirm their request to join your list (if you are using double opt-in).

One thing to keep in mind when developing your squeeze page is that it should motivate visitors in the same way that a traditional sales page should. However, the actual structure of your squeeze page will be very different.

With sales pages, they are typically designed to offer as much information about a particular product or service as possible, since the main focus is on transforming a visitor into a customer.

However, with a squeeze page you aren’t asking your visitor to make a decision to purchase or commit to anything other than to subscribe to your mailing list where they are rewarded with a free product.

Keeping this offer or giveaway in mind, when you develop a squeeze page, you need to have a strong focus on your market, and design your offer around an existing problem, need or question.

To come up with the best incentive offer possible, you’ll need to thoroughly evaluate your market and other competing offers so that you can create a relevant product that is in demand and more likely to capture the attention of your target audience.

Squeeze pages should be designed to offer a clear navigation system, basic structure and template and a compelling offer.

There are a number of options open to you in creating your squeeze page. If you’re good with html you can code your own squeeze from scratch.

But with the many landing page creator program out there you wouldn’t want to go into that trouble. In fact, when you sign up for a GetResponse account you’ll have access to the system’s landing page creator. Here you’ll find different landing page templates that have been proven to work in different markets. Once you’re logged in you simply need to choose one and customize it to your taste.

Apart from the Getresponse landing page creator another powerful one I will readily recommend is Landing Page Monkey. Now, that may be some sexy name for a landing page creator but beyond that with Landing Page Monkey you have a whole lot of features that makes it easy to creator high converting pages.

Another reason you may want to check this one out is that you’re not restricted to one autoresponder. You can integrate it with different types of autoresponders so if you’re already using another autoresponder getting Landing Page Monkey is a good option for you.

Check it out here.

Giveaway (Incentive)

This is what you’re offering your subscribers to get them into your mailing list. It is essentially, the most important element on your squeeze page.

If your giveaway (offer) doesn’t motivate visitors into subscribing, all of your marketing efforts will be lost. This means you’ll need to make your offer to be of interest to the majority of your target market.

The higher the quality of your giveaway as well as the more relevant your offer is to your market, the easier it will be to recruit new subscribers.

One of the ways you can do this is by creating a shorter version of a hot selling product, and offering it for free to anyone who subscribes to your list. The idea is that if competitors are successfully selling a similar product which you are giving away for free it will be easy to sign up visitors to your list.

Some giveaway incentives you can use include:

  • Free Reports
  • Free Ebooks (full length of leaked chapters)
  • Free Tutorial Guides
  • Video Tutorials
  • Free or Trial Access To a Membership Program
  • Free Booklet with “Top Tips”
  • Free Weekly Newsletter Subscription
  • Free templates or graphics
  • Free Audio Interviews, Lessons, Tutorials

The key is to make your giveaway relevant to your audience’s need. You want to make sure that your target audience is actively searching for similar information, and that it is being sold successfully in the marketplace. If you do that, you will have little difficulty building a massive list of targeted prospects who will be eager to receive your emails and broadcasts.

If you plan to promote an ebook or e-course of some kind, a very powerful method is to offer a leaked chapter of your info product. By offering this free chapter, you’ll not only provide new subscribers with a sample of the quality of your work, but you’ll also generate buzz around your upcoming product launch.

If your giveaway is well written, you will find it exceptionally easy to build a subscriber base of people who will likely purchase the full length version when it launches.

This is also a savvy method of creating a viral campaign for your upcoming launch as people pass around the ‘leaked chapter’ to everyone they know.

The two easiest ways of getting your freebie created are, outsourcing and buying PLRs.

If you are interested in outsourcing your project to experienced freelancers, you can easily find a trustworthy professional from the following freelance marketplaces:

http://www.Guru.com
http://www.upwork.com
http://www.freelancer.com

Just make sure to provide your freelancer with a clear outline of what your project entails and be sure to follow up by requesting updates and reviewing the content after it’s created.

If you’ll rather use private label rights (PLRs) material, make sure you spend time revising the material so that it blends well with your own personal style. This is very important as you will want people to recognize your brand and become familiar with your work, right from the beginning.

Some sources for PLR you may want to consider are:

How to Design an Effective Squeeze Page

Squeeze page sample

As I have mentioned above, your giveaway incentive (freebie) is definitely the most important piece of your list building package. However, your squeeze page need to do the “selling” for the prospect to “see” the value of your freebie. This is why we said earlier that it serves the same purpose as a sales page.

It’s important therefore that you create a landing (squeeze) page that will effectively sell your freebie. Here is a quick overview of the most important elements that you need to include in your squeeze page:

A Compelling and Attention-Grabbing Headline

This is the very first thing that your visitor sees.

To be effective the headline should not only attract attention but also draw in the prospects keeping them focused long enough to become confirmed subscribers.

Your headlines text size should be larger than the rest of the text on the squeeze page. For increased exposure, consider adding color to your headline (red and blue works well).

You may also want to highlight your headline and any sub headline that you use. You can use the <h1> and <h2> tags to enlarge your text, which will not only help with capturing attention from your visitors but will also alert search engine crawlers that the enlarged text is important.

Center your headline within your template and try to work in your opt-in box so that it is close to the headline itself. If you are using a CSS based squeeze page, your opt-in box could be placed in a right column, with a bullet list of benefits featured in the main body of your page.

Content/Body

You should keep your content trimmed down so that it focuses only on the most important information that you have to share. Avoid wordy squeeze pages that offer endless paragraphs of information. Your squeeze page has ONLY one task…

…to convert visitors into subscribers!

So, you need to keep it clear, concise and of course, exciting!

You should split test your copy to determine what will increase conversion rates. But in the meantime, here’s a quick overview of how to structure your squeeze page content for better results:

a) Use Bullet Points To Highlight Benefits

Bullet points emphasize important features and draw attention to the special aspects of becoming a subscriber of your list.

This is a great way to showcase the benefits of becoming a subscriber, and what they will receive, in return, for their subscription.

For example, if you were offering a report on a topic like: ‘Insider Secrets To Finding A Work At Home Job’, your benefit list could include:

  1. Discover how to land a high paying online job even if you have absolutely no experience working online!
  2. How to avoid heart-rendering work at home job scams!
  3. Discover the #1 freelance website where 99.9% of new telecommuters are able to secure employment in their first week online.
  4. Create a compelling resume that guarantees you stand out from the crowd and get noticed by top paying companies online!

b) Retain Focus At ALL Times

Eliminate any external links and keep your squeeze page focused. You should avoid all of forms of distractions either by linking to external websites or internal pages on your site.

You should be focused ONLY on getting the subscriber on your mailing list.

Avoid navigation menus, widgets, plugins, or links to articles. Your squeeze page should be one-page long, feature your bullet list, headline, opt-in box and privacy policy. Eliminate clutter and any information or content that is not necessary to securing the subscriber.

c) Strong & Clear Call To Action

If you want your squeeze page to successfully recruit new subscribers, you NEED to clearly direct visitors to fill out your opt-in form and confirm their request.

Do NOT assume that people know what to do. Remember, not everyone is likely to have experience with mailing lists, and so you need to directly instruct them as to how they are able to gain access to your free, high quality offer.

Similarly, you should also direct them to confirm their request to your list once they have entered in their name and email address.

If you are using a double opt-in format, you will NOT be able to communicate with those who have not verified their request. So, make absolutely certain that you are following up and instructing everyone to confirm.

You can do this by automatically directing subscribers to a secondary page on your site that thanks them for subscribing and tells them that the final step is to check their email and confirm their request to join your list by clicking on the verification link sent out by your autoresponder system.

Consider highlighting your call to action, or using bold text to emphasize it, like this:

“Submit Your Information Immediately To Claim This FREE Report – Before It’s Gone!”

This creates a sense of urgency and gets them excited about what you’re offering. This is an important element to keep in mind. You may also want to try a more specific scarcity tactic, like:

Only 25 Copies Available! Claim Yours Before It’s Gone!”

d) Minimize Graphics and Use Them Wisely

Your squeeze page should load quickly and remain clean and focused. However, it’s been proven that using report covers, or ecovers can increase subscriber rates by giving your visitor a visual picture of what they will receive after subscribing to your list.

Make sure that the graphics you use are high quality and original, and that your report cover portrays the product or offer you are giving away accurately.

If you are offering a short report on…

“Dog Training Mistakes To Avoid”,

Make sure that your report cover clearly illustrates the topic.

Always make sure that you personally go through the subscription process before launching your campaign to make sure that you receive the initial welcome email sent out by your autoresponder, and that your opt-in box itself works properly.

Squeeze pages can be as detailed and lengthy or as short and precise as you wish, depending on your target market and overall layout.

You NEED to make sure that you emphasize the benefits of joining your list, and that you highlight the opt-in box, drawing attention to it and whenever possible, keeping it visible above the fold.

Always use a headline that explains exactly what they will receive after they become a subscriber. People don’t always give away their email address so easily and it’s your job to explain exactly how they will benefit by doing so.

Regardless of how you structure your squeeze page, you need to thoroughly test what works and how you can improve it.

Now, let say again that with Getresponse.com or LandingPageMonkey.com you get a number of already proven landing page templates. You don’t have to stress yourself wondering if your landing pages will work. Check them out and make your pick.

Your Email Broadcast Schedule

To better organize and manage your email marketing for the best results, it’s important that you create a schedule of when you plan on releasing new broadcasts, as well as your actual autoresponder sequence so that your emails are going out on a regular basis.

Being consistent will help you develop a relationship with your list while conditioning them as to what and when to expect your next email. By doing this, you will find that your open-rates will increase as subscribers begin to look out for your emails.

When creating your first email campaign, I suggest creating 6-10 emails (for a start). You can then add additional emails into your sequence as time goes on.

Remember though that subscribers who are already a part of your email cycle will not receive new emails that you add to the sequence unless you send out an actual broadcast.

You should set your first email to go out automatically, after a new subscriber confirms their request to join your list, with additional follow-up emails being sent out every 2-3 days.

Here’s an example of a one week email sequence:

Monday: Free Report
Tuesday: Free Article
Wednesday: Promotional email
Thursday: Free article
Friday: Promotional email
Saturday: Promotional email
Sunday: No email

Always keep notes of any ideas you have for email content, and if you are outsourcing content creation to freelancers, make sure that you always proof-read the material and add in your own style.

You want your subscribers to become familiar with your brand, and so even if you outsource the majority of the work you need to apply your own personal style to every email you send out.

You also want to focus on balancing the amount of promotion-based emails with information-based ones. This will help you to retain more of your subscribers.

The more value you offer, the more responsive your list will be. You can add instant value by purchasing private label rights material and revising it so that you can create free reports for your list. You can also compile articles into ebooks or reports as well.

Final Words: Conclusion

Email marketing and list building is truly one of the easiest methods of building automated income online. With a single click of the mouse, you can instantly broadcast a promotional based email to a built-in customer base, without having to worry about the cost of customer acquisition or advertising.

In order to monetize your lists effectively however, you need to focus on treating your subscribers well so that they trust you and of course, respond to your offers.

You can stand out from the majority of email marketers in your industry by over-delivering on fresh, quality content.

Remember that people sign up to receive your emails believing that they will benefit in some way. If you deliver quality, relevant and useful information that truly helps them, you will be rewarded with an active and responsive subscriber base.

Focus on building a relationship with your subscribers through constant contact and updates.

Don’t let your list run cold by failing to communicate with your subscribers. It’s relatively easy to design an email marketing campaign by using high quality private label material, and by hiring content writers to create articles that can be used within your broadcasts.

Gmail’s Image Now Showing Feature – A Plus for Email Marketing?

On Thursday, December 12, 2013 John Rae-Grant, Google’s Product Manager, made a post announcing yet another change from the stables of Google.  In the post simply titled: “Images Now Showing” John Rae-Grant said,

“Have you ever wondered why Gmail asks you before showing images in emails? We did this to protect you from unknown senders who might try to use images to compromise the security of your computer or mobile device.

But thanks to new improvements in how Gmail handles images, you’ll soon see all images displayed in your messages automatically across desktop, iOS and Android. Instead of serving images directly from their original external host servers, Gmail will now serve all images through Google’s own secure proxy servers. “

Google's Image Now Showing update

That indeed seems to be good news for Gmail users – Google cares about your privacy!

But, marketers are seeing it in a different light.

As expected, the debate is on. Is this another way of Google “muzzling” email marketers and forcing them into using more paid advertising just as they are trying to do with search engine marketing or is it truly because of users’ privacy?

Change Could Be for Good or….

Of course, for every change there would always be some form of disadvantage. And for this change, one of the drawbacks is the fact that it takes away the ability of marketers to track email metrics. For example, since Gmail users do not have to click on “display images below” to show images in their inbox, the user’s info (like location, device type and date and time on which the email was read) which previously were transmitted to the email marketer through such actions, will no longer be sent.

Considering this, those who believe that Google is muzzling email marketers may be correct. But looked at from another angle, it does really appear that this change will make email marketing more result oriented. In fact, it is an indication that Google is pushing email towards a more social platform than what we have seen!

We mustn’t forget the fact that in 2011 Google announced the integration of Gmail and Google+  enabling users to add contacts to their Google+ circles and also share content with them right from Gmail.  Besides, we should remember also that visual content presentation is the vogue online right now. Showing images in Gmail therefore is just a way of keeping up with the times!

And, I dare say, we may be seeing a new design layout for Gmail very soon!

The Positive Side of “Image Now Showing”

Despite the hard knocks this change is receiving from marketers, I personally welcome it. I’ve actually wished for it before now.

Many a time when I send out email notifications of new blog posts and product posts and I receive those emails in my inbox, I was always disappointed because of the image not displaying. Frankly, without the image the message usually look awkward. And if that was coming from me what were recipients saying?

This is one of the biggest reasons why, to me, this change is actually a positive one for marketers. With this new change it is definitely clear that we can now add some more visual appeal to our email promotions.

Also, the fact that with the integration of Gmail and Google+ you can easily +1 an image share it with your Google+ circles  right from your inbox, this change is something we must take seriously. Including a visual appealing image in your email is definitely going to be a powerful  tactic of making our promotions go viral. Of course, Google has already made this easy and quick with the addition of the green hover share button within your Gmail inbox!

Marketers Should Really Take Advantage of This Change

Rather than talk down on this new image change, marketers should find more profitable ways of taking advantage of it. One of such ways is by using more appealing images in email sends. It is a fact that email is one of the most popular platforms used by people online. It is also more personal than most other platforms (social media or blogs). If that is the case, a change that gives you the ability to better connect with your email contacts is really a good one.

I see very soon marketers using funny images to push their marketing messages. And where this is used well it could signal a really viral promotion for any product or service.

It doesn’t matter what the intention of Google is, marketers can always find ways of making this work for them.  So, as marketers we can really say, Google thank you!

Or, do you have a different view of this new “image now showing” update from Google? Will love to know your views.

How Autoresponders Can Literally Make Your Life Better as An Online Entrepreneur!

Ever wondered how some “guru” online marketers can boast of making money online even when they are sleeping?

How about those who claim their online businesses are always sucking in money like vacuum cleaners while they are traveling the world, lazing around with their sweethearts?

I’m sure that claims like these may have, at times, come to you as incredible and spurious, right?

But then it means you are yet to discover the power of autoresponders in marketing online.

To every online entrepreneur, the autoresponder is actually the most valuable tool. I personally don’t know how the online business person would have been able to cope with running a business online if there were no autoresponders.

There is so much that autoresponders can do for you as a web entrepreneur. In this post therefore, I want to briefly talk about this very useful tool. I hope you pick one or two things to help you with your online business.

Autoresponders and Online Marketing

Autoresponders And Your Online Business

There is no doubt that one of the most useful tools that every online business entrepreneur must consider is the autoresponder. If you truly desire to have a slice of the internet cake then getting a functional autoresponder is a must. Used the right way they can help you put your business on autopilot enabling you to spend more time doing other things like generating traffic to your websites, networking and even creating more businesses.

Many people correctly refer to it as the 24/7 salesman/secretary. This is because once set up the autoresponder is ready to work round the clock without any problems. Like the automated secretary they are, the autoresponder will readily respond to email inquiries without any delay. It will, also without fail, followup any prospect once the contact details are in the database.

Without Autoresponders Marketing Online Is A Pain In The Neck

Many online entrepreneurs have not realized that trying to build a successful online business can be a little tricky without an autoresponder. Their ability for automatic email response is something that every online marketer will cherish any day.

This is specially so because online, people want instant gratification. They expect responses their inquiries without any delay. And so, automating a majority of your business tasks with autoresponders can help you gain not only respect from your customers’ and prospects but also their business!

One of the good features of autoresponders is the ability to configure your messages to your specifications. You can send personalized messages thereby creating the impression that your email was specifically made for your clients. This is of great help since it definitely increases your email conversion rates. Besides, once you have set up your autoresponders you will be able to followup your prospects, presenting your offers to them until they are ready to buy!

Business Marketing Using Autoresponders

How autoresponders help online entrepreneursOne of the smart ways of using autoresponders to market your business online is by creating free courses, articles, reports, information regarding your products and services, price lists, welcome and thank you letters, advertising rates etc. and preseting this information in your autoresponder.

Once set up you can then direct potential buyers or current customers to get more info by sending a message to your autoresponder address. When they do, the information they are seeking will automatically be delivered to them. The autoresponder will also notify you each and every time someone has requested your information. This will help you know when you have potential customers.

By simply doing this you’d be marketing your business hands-free!

There will be no need for you to spend countless hours answering emails. You will have more time to do other things that will help move your business forward.

A Few Tips On Using Autoresponders For Your Business

Here are some tips that will help you maximize the potential of your autoresponder.

  1. Choose Wisely

Your choice of autoresponder for your online business matters. For one, I’ll say never choose based only the price only. This is because the cheapest price might not really be great after all!

Again, never settle for free autoresponders. If you’re running a business then it’s wise that you put in some investment, because that is what an autoresponder is to your business. Free autoresponders might bring more pain later on when you want to move to a paid one.

I personally recommend GetResponse.com because of the proven service and the features. Even if you’re just getting started, you’ll find the platform easy to work with.

You can get a FREE 30 day trial option here.

2.Load Up a Reasonable Number of Messages

Depending on what type of information you want your autoresponder to deliver to your prospects, setting it up to run for a long time (say for a whole year) is the idea thing. If you load up, say 52 messages, you’ll have something to send for each week of the year.

Of course, you may have trouble loading up this many messages or articles at once but there are places online where you can get your material for free. However, if you simply don’t have the time or content, you can always start with a few messages then go back and add more later.

3.Always Include Your Email Signature In The Autoresponder Messages

Once you have your autoresponder preloaded with messages or the required articles, it is important that you set up your signature. Your signature will be displayed at the bottom of every message the autoresponder sends out. This could be your name and link to your business website. You can also add a short description of your business as well, which will let clients or interested customers know a bit about your business. Your name and link to your business website will go a long way, letting your customers know that you are professional.

4. Every Messages Should Relate To Your Business

Never make the mistake of just stuffing things up because you want to load up a year’s content. This way, when you send out emails or messages, you’ll be sending out material that relates to your business or products. if your content is different from what your prospects are looking you run the risk of many of them unsubscribing from your list.

5. Update Your Autoresponder Messages As The Need Arises

From time to time as you get new products or information to send to your clients, you can update your log. When running a business, it’s very important that you keep your customers up to date. This way, your customers will know that you have new products available and ready for purchase. If you have a good relationship with them, they will be anticipating your new offers.

Final Thoughts: If you run a business via the Internet, an autoresponder is definite to make your life a whole lot easier. You can build a flourishing online business working only with an autoresponder and no website. But if you attempt to market with a website and no autoresponder you will run into problems. An autoresponder will allow you build a subscribers’ list – your most valuable business asset! The truth is, once you’ve tried using an autoresponder, you’ll never imagine your business without it.

How To Use Free Classified Ads For Online Promotions!

Ever considered using free classified ads for promoting your blogs and business websites? Ever tried it? If you have, how did it work for you?

Over the years, classified ads have proven to be effective ways of promoting products and services whether online or offline. This is what accounts for the increase of classified ads sites like Yahoo! Gumtree, eBay, Craigslist and many others that abound on the internet today.

From my personal experience, using free classified ads is a powerful way to increase your business’s online visibility and income because they are cheap, easy and flexible.

In this post I want to share with you some thoughts on how to use free classified ads to promote your business, website or blog. But first,

What Is Classified Ads?

According to Wikipedia.org,

“Classified advertising is a form of advertising which is particularly common in newspapers, online and other periodicals which may be sold or distributed free of charge. Advertisements in a newspaper are typically short, as they are charged for by the line, and one newspaper column wide.

The advertisements are grouped into categories or classes such as “for sale—telephones”, “wanted—kitchen appliances”, and “services—plumbing”, hence the term “classified“.

Classified advertisements are much cheaper than larger display advertisements used by businesses, and are mostly placed by private individuals with single items they wish to sell or buy.

Internet classified ads do not typically use per-line pricing models, so tend to be longer. They are also searchable, unlike printed material, tend to be local, and may foster a greater sense of urgency as a result of their daily structure and wider scope for audiences. Because of their self-policing nature and low cost structures, some companies offer free classifieds internationally.”

From the above definition, online classified ads are great for promoting products and services on the internet. For one, your ad is searchable by the search engines and you could achieve much for a real low price! With the growing number of classified ads sites out there, you could choose any one that suits your plan. If you are looking for the free ones and those that favor internet marketing promotions, I’ll suggest you check out Adlandpro.

5 Super Tips on How to Succeed With Classified Ads

Promote your business with free classified ads1. Choose with Care – If you are going for paid classified ad sites you should be wary of spending money on sites you haven’t heard of.  A simple search on Google will give you enough details about a site before spending your money on it.  This is also important even if you are using a free classified advertising site.

Apart from classified ad sites you can also find niche sites or blogs that will accept adverts directly and advertise directly on such sites. These sites are always looking for adverts and can provide direct access to your target market.

2. Know Your Purpose and Capitalize on It – One thing you must understand is that classified ads are not for making the sale. The focus of a classified ad is to get the target to click through your website. It is only when they have clicked through that you attempt to make the sale.  Your ad must therefore be crafted with this in mind. Whether the sales is signing up to your list or actually buying a product, your website (or landing page) should be focused mainly on a single purpose in order for you to achieve maximum results.

3. Promise A Definite Benefit – Make the first line in your classified ad a quantifiable benefit. For example, “How you can lose 36lbs in 2 Months,” or “How to earn $2,359.58 Every Week Working Just 2 Hours a Week”.

It has to have figures in it so people can see exactly what they are getting. State something unique about the product. Why should they listen to you and not to the many other classified ads they are seeing? What is so special about you and your advert? Demonstrate it to them.

4. Be Economical with Words – It is true that online classified ads are not charged by the lines just as newspaper classified ads but they are not different in many ways. For more effectiveness therefore, it is advisable to use less few words as possible. Be as succinct as you can in your advert as it will make your advert much more powerful than the one that waffles on for pages and pages.

5. Remember to Track Your Traffic – Whether you are paying for your classified ads or you’re using free classified ads sites, you mustn’t forget to track your results in order to know which sites are sending you traffic and giving you results. Of course, if you are paying for your ads then this is doubly important. This is the only way to ensure your advertising budget is getting you the best results.

A simple tracking code in the format: http://www.yourwebsites.com/?=CODE (where CODE is anything you choose) will do the trick. However, whatever you use as your code, make sure you keep a track of them somewhere so that you know which code relates to which classified ads.  Doing this, will help you determine from your webstats which of the classified ads is working for you.  If you can integrate it with something like Google Analytics for more advanced tracking, you will be able to track exactly which adverts are making you the sales.

Tracking your classified promotions helps you to know which adverts are making you the most money. Besides, the data you get from this tracking will be invaluable in improving your profitability. This way you will not need to waste your time on what is not working thereby maximizing your earnings.

Why Email Marketing: 6 Reasons To Invest In Email Marketing In 2013!

Why Email Marketing still hold sway when many thougth otherwise

A few years ago many marketing pundits referred to email marketing as a dying internet marketing strategy. They predicted email marketing to fade out in a matter of years!

But it is surprising that we are now in 2013 and instead of fading out email marketing has remained a strong force in doing business online. In fact, it is now predicted to be one of the biggest online sales drivers.

The advent of social media marketing (another big one for building relationships online) could not in any way stop it. Bloggers who a few years ago considered it anathema have now become the biggest advocates of building email contact lists for relationship building and effective marketing!

Looking at all of these, the question one will want to ask is, why is email marketing so valuable in marketing online that it has defied every prediction and remained  a force to reckon with online?

Why, despite the increase of email spam (one of the biggest problems of email marketing), marketers have continued to levitate towards using email marketing for online businesses?

Why Email Marketing Has Defied The Pundits’ Word!

1.    Easier Leveraging Ability

Email marketing gives the easiest way to leverage on the power of the internet. I’m sure you know one of the reasons for using the internet for business is the ability to reach a large number of your target audience in a cost-effective, quick and easy way.

Now, email marketing gives you just that power. With email marketing you simply need to compose an email targeted at the reader and her needs, customize it with the necessary tags (first name or last name, etc), and then click the broadcast button to reach thousands of people instantly!

Nothing can be this easier and if you truly want to reach the millions of online buyers and prospects then making use of email is something you want to consider.

2.    Scalability

If you have been involved in an offline business you will understand that the more customers you have, the busier you become. However, in email marketing, it is much easier because regardless of the size of your mailing list, whether it is 100 or 10,000, all you need to do is click broadcast and everyone on the list gets notified! You don’t really need any extra effort to reach more prospects. Big or small, it all takes the same effort!

Why email marketing3.    Highly Targeted

Another reason why email marketing has remained highly effective at getting sales and therefore has refused to bow to the negative predictions is the fact that the recipients get a kind of “in your face” marketing promotion. With email, you are marketing directly to the customer through their PERSONAL mailbox. Not only will you grab their attention firmly, they will tend to respond with the right buyers mindset because they are marketed to directly, unlike other advertising where the buyer might not be in the frame of mind to buy things.

4.    Personal Marketing In Action

With autoresponders you can customize your email marketing message in such a way that it allows you to connect with the subscriber individually. This is really a big plus for email marketing because the more personalized your email, the better the result because it comes like a message from a friend.

5.    Automation Made Easy

There’s nothing that online marketers love more than the ability to automate things. Frankly! Just take a look around you. We want to automate our content creation. We want to automate traffic generation. Even social media interactions which are supposed to be interpersonal relationships are being automated!

Now, there is no other area where automation is really much easier and better than email marketing. With an autoresponder, you can time your emails to enable you build a really intimate relationship with every new opt-in subscriber! You can decide, for every new opt-in subscriber, what to send, when to send it to them and the frequency between each email.

6.    A Good Pre-Selling Strategy

Whatever you are selling online you know the importance of preselling, especially if you are an affiliate marketer.  With email you will not only be able to build a relationship with your subscribers but also presell them and lead them to your blog, sales letter or website (or affiliate product site as the case may be) to check out what you have to offer. Of course, with the email you are able to set them in the right frame of mind before they evaluate what you have to offer them.

You Need Email Marketing No Matter Your Online Business

Now, can you see why email marketing has remained central in marketing online? If you are not implementing email marketing in your online business, you’re definitely losing out. Credibility Tactics for Email Marketing Success

The past few days have been some hectic ones for me. I’ve been doing some niche researches for the holiday season and also trying to put some things in place for the coming new year. As a business this is a time to review the year so far and of course do some strategizing for the years ahead. In a later post I may be revealing some of the innovative ideas I will be putting in place for my online business in the coming year. You may just want to watch out!

For now, I want to give you a few tips on making a success of your email making campaigns. One sure thing about email making is building a stronger bond with your customers and prospects. Doing this very well will give you a competitive edge in the market.

Enhance your email marketing the easy way

In this post our focus is on how you can instill stronger credibility in the minds of your prospects. Now, when you browse the net, you will understand that there is so much information out there. The real problem is, who do you believe? Of all the info being pushed at you who do you follow? That is the real problem.

Now your prospects are also asking those same questions. Why do you expect them to follow your advice? How do you prove that what you’re offering is the best solution for their problems? Except you’re able to do this very well, your prospects are ready to move on, and that is more business for your competitor!

There are of course a few ways you can establish yourself as an authority in your market. Establishing yourself as an authority is simply done online by instilling stronger credibility in the minds of your prospects. It doesn’t matter what business you’re into the following strategies can be used to instill more credibility in the minds of your prospects.

1. Talk about your experiences online and offline. If you’ve run an offline business before, use it to establish your credibility as a business builder. If you’ve been in sales and marketing before, use it to establish your credibility as a copywriter.

2. Show them screen shots of how much money you’ve made online (or checks you’ve earned). If you don’t have any of these, use photos of well-known marketers you’ve taken pictures with.

3. Let others tell the story. It would be better to let others sing your praises, especially in the form of testimonials.

4. Use e-courses to build credibility over time. People may not be impressed at the first glance. Sometimes, it takes a few E-mails for people to recognize your capabilities. One of the ways you can build your credibility over time is to write an E-course or a newsletter that will be sent to your subscriber’s e-mail over a period of days or weeks. It must be something educational; something that will establish you as an expert on the subject.

You can configure your autoresponder to send an E-course once everyday, every two days or a weekly newsletter. So long as the subscriber reads your educational material over a period of time, you can slowly work your way into the heart of your subscriber and stamp a firm impression in their minds.

e-Mail Marketing Mistakes You Must Avoid At All Costs

If you want to build a solid relationship through E-mails, you must be very careful NOT to commit these E-mail marketing ?sins?:

1. Spamming! Never, ever spam your mailing list. Even though they have given you permission to E-mail them, that doesn’t mean that you can send them E-mails and sales pitches on a daily basis. Learn to send E-mails at strategic intervals.

2. Mailing them only when you are selling something. No one wants to be on your list if all you ever do is sell, sell, sell! The reason people join your mailing list is because they want something of value for being on your list. If they fail to see your value, they will unsubscribe even faster than you can say, “opt-out”!

3. Rushing your Emails. When you are doing a promotion, one of the biggest mistakes you can make is that you rush your E-mails to the point that the mistakes are spotted by most of your subscribers. Having too many mistakes in your E-mail will make you look unprofessional. It is quite embarrassing when you spell a person?s name wrongly (the word {first_name} appears instead of the subscriber’s real name) or worse? screwing up your affiliate links!

4. Not mailing your list for a long time. The opposite of spamming. If you don’t keep in touch with your subscribers for a long time, they will tend to forget who you are. And that will severely damage the relationship between you and your subscriber.

5. Not relating to your subscribers. When every new product launches, there is a tendency to mail your subscribers all the time while forgetting that the product doesn’t relate to the subscribers at all. You don?t want to sell cat food to people who don?t own a pet!

Ask any online entrepreneur any day and the answer will be same – building relationships through E-mail marketing is all about trust. The more a person trusts you, the easier it is to get them to do what you want them to do.

If you’re doing email marketing, what you should understand is that though it may take a long time to build trust that trust can be shattered overnight. So always put yourself in the shoes of your subscribers and give them as much value as possible and you can be sure of victory all the way with your email marketing!

5 Top Most Popular Online Marketing Strategies: The Pro’s and Con’s!

Online business marketing strategies

There are various online marketing strategies in existence, and new approaches are introduced at an ever increasing rate. Some of these tactics are more effective than others, but there are a handful of strategies that have stood the test of time. Your chosen online promotional methods will be influenced to a great degree by the type of online business you pursue, the demographic of your audience, and your marketing budget.

Let us look at the most widely used promotional strategies and their respective advantages and disadvantages:

1. Pay-Per-Click (PPC) Advertising

PPC advertising is a strategy that involves the placement of ads on search engines to drive targeted traffic to your site. Google Adwords is the most commonly used form of PPC advertising.

Advantages:

• Results can be achieved in mere seconds

• New sites can build email lists and increase awareness fairly rapidly

• Costs are incurred only when someone clicks on your ad

Disadvantages:

• Costs-per-click are high in competitive industries

• Campaigns that are not optimized can result in high costs without many conversions

2. Organic Search Engine Marketing

Organic search engine marketing is an approach that involves ranking your website in the Search Engine Result Pages (SERP’s) to gain traffic directly from the search engines.

Advantages:

• There are no costs associated to traffic that is received from the search engines

• Traffic is laser targeted

• Can provide a form of residual income

Disadvantages:

• Ranking your site is time sensitive, and it can become a costly affair

• Results are relative to the industry and ranking on the first page is not guaranteed

3. Article Marketing

Article Marketing involves submitting articles relevant to your niche to popular article directories that are traffic intensive.

Advantages:

• You receive targeted traffic from within the article directories and the search engines

• Articles are often syndicated which brings you an increased amount of traffic from diverse sources

• You get backlinks to your site which aids in off-page search engine optimization

Disadvantages:

• Writing articles, researching topics, and submitting to the directories can become time-consuming

• Outsourcing this task can also become expensive over the long-term

4. Affiliate Marketing

This method involves using specialist internet marketers to help sell your product and in return you pay the marketer a commission for every sale or lead that is generated.

Advantages:

• You only pay the affiliate marketer for confirmed sales

• Affiliate Marketers assume the costs of promoting your product

Disadvantages:

• Unscrupulous marketers can use underhanded tactics to promote your product which can damage your company’s image

• The amount of sales you generate is dependent on the skill of the affiliate marketer

• Setting-up an affiliate marketing program and supporting your affiliates requires a large investment

5. Email Marketing

Email marketing is a strategy that involves the use of emails that are sent directly to the client who opted-in to your email list to promote your company and your products.

Advantages:

• Automation software has significantly reduced the time and costs associated with email marketing

• Email communication provides the platform for you to build a lasting relationship with your client

Disadvantages:

• Conspicuous sales copy within an email can offend clients

• It can become time-consuming to respond to clients who have replied to the emails you send out

Formulating a specific marketing strategy that is suitable to your online business is critical in order to extract the highest ROI. Weighing-up the advantages and disadvantages of each method and choosing the methods with the least risk is a good starting point. However you must realize that the progressive nature of the internet calls for diverse sources of traffic.
