Get Involved In Blog Action Day 2010 – Topic Water!

The annual event where bloggers around the world focuses on just a topic christianed Blog Action Day, is here again. This event which comes up every 15th of October is just about 5 days from today. This year’s event is taking on another dimension as is taking on the event from Blog Action Day Co-creators Collis and Cyan Ta’eed.

The topic chosen for this year is, “WATER”. This as usual is done through users votes. According to the official website, the topic of water is chosen because:

Almost a billion people on the planet don’t have access to clean, safe drinking water. That’s one in eight of us who are subject to preventable disease and even death because of something that many of us take for granted.

Access to clean water is not just a human rights issue. It’s an environmental issue. An animal welfare issue. A sustainability issue. Water is a global issue, and it affects all of us.

As a blogger you can participate in this event by registering your blog by clicking here. Once registered you will need to make a post on the topic of water on the 15th of October. Of course the organizers have given a few ideas around which you can make your blog post on that day. Check here for the list of ideas.

However,  if you do not have a blog, you can also participate by joining the discussions on that day by tweeting blog posts, retweeting on twitter and of course following tweets that mention the event. You can follow the event by following  @blogactionday or using the hashtag #BAD10 to follow the conversation.

That is not all, you can also support the event by signing the petition to encourage UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon to continue the UN’s life-saving work of bringing water and sanitation to developing nations. I’ve embeded the petition request widget on the sidebar. (Just look over to the right). Go on and sign it!

Whatever you do between now and the 15th watch out for the various posts that will be talking about the issue of water on that date.

Do watch out for our post here also. And you can start the good work even now by tweeting and liking this post. Simply click the retweet button at the start of this and the facebook like button. Thanks for your support!
